What kids of the world eat at school

You are what you eat. In some countries kids are fed with really delicious food, in some – with food rich in nutrients and vitamins, while in others kids do not get enough vitamins from food at all. I’d pick Asia for my kids.

Facebook Now Aiding Governments In The Tracking, Arrest And Deportation Of Peaceful Activists | Before It's News

News reports confirm that governments are now being aided by Facebook to spy on activists who plan peaceful protests. One report reveals that over 300 activists were tracked, detained and in some case deported after organizing events on the popular social networking site.

As I previously reported, Pro-Palestinian activists planned a peaceful ‘Fly-In’ protest in a solidarity mission against Israel’s illegal occupation of the Palestine territories. The story made news after Israel put security forces on a state of high-alert ahead of scheduled protests.

Evidence Broadens Obama Natural Born Conspiracy| The Post & Email

“ONLY THE PEOPLE CAN END THIS CRISIS”

by JB Williams, ©2011

(Jun. 7, 2011) — Evidence that we have a fraud and a usurper currently residing in the people’s White House is overwhelming, despite the overt lack of journalistic investigating on the part of the American press. But now new evidence indicates that the conspiracy to carry out that fraud was much broader than originally thought.

The story of whom and what Barack Hussein Obama II really is – is a forty-year story that requires a book, not a column, to tell. Strong evidence suggests that he was being groomed from a very young age for the moment in history that would end American supremacy in the world, and usher in a new era of Global Marxist Governance.

But there was a major hurdle that had to be overcome – the U.S. Constitution, in this case, Article II – Section I – Clause V specifically, which requires that “no person except a natural-born citizen of the United States” can hold the office of President. – Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States…and may not even be a legal citizen of the United States. So, how can he be President?

This column focuses upon the period 2003-2008 and the political maneuvers that took place in order to make way for America’s first unconstitutional resident of the White House.

Investigators for the House Committee on Government Oversight and Reform are asking the White House official who oversaw the government bailouts of General Motors and Chrysler whether he told the truth in recent testimony before the committee. Ron Bloom, Assistant to the President for Manufacturing Policy, is quoted in a 2009 newspaper account and a 2010 book saying of the auto bailouts that he "did this all for the unions." But when Bloom appeared before the committee on June 22, he flatly denied ever saying those words. Other White House officials have reportedly defended Bloom by suggesting that he did indeed say those words but was joking. And that has led committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa to ask what is going on.

Federal Government Reaffirms ‘Flat Earth’ Position Regarding Medical Cannabis | Cannabis News

Earlier today, United States DEA Administrator Michele Leonhartreaffirmed in the Federal Register the administration’s ‘flat Earth’ position regarding the medical properties of cannabis.

Responding to a nine-year-old petitionto reclassify marijuana under federal law filed by a coalition of advocacy groups, including NORML and California NORML, Leonhart stated, “[T]here is no substantial evidence that marijuana should be removed from schedule I.”

A summary of Ms. Leonhart’s ‘reasoning’ is below. (Read the DEA’s full response here.)

Why Legalize Now? - Mark Thornton - Mises Daily

PROHIBITION ENDS AT LAST!

Suddenly the world is abuzz with talk about legalizing marijuana and other drugs. Political candidates, politicians, former presidents, interest groups, and even the Global Commission on Drug Policy are all calling for drug-policy reform. Given that we are in a worldwide economic and fiscal crisis, why is everyone interested in drug policy? Have we all suddenly regained our senses and realized that prohibition is irrational?
No, the more important reason for the interest in this issue is economic sense. Drug prohibition is a burden on taxpayers. It is a burden on government budgets. It is a burden on the criminal-justice system. It is a burden on the healthcare system. The economic crisis has intensified the pain from all these burdens. Legalization reduces or eliminates all of these burdens. It should be no surprise that alcohol prohibition was repealed at the deepest depths of the Great Depression.
Two Republican presidential candidates, former governor Gary Johnson and Congressman Ron Paul, support legalization. Ron Paul and Barney Frank have introduced legislation that would allow the states to legalize marijuana without federal interference. Former president Jimmy Carter recently published an editorial in the New York Times calling for an end of the global war on drugs, a position he has held since he was president.

RX drug overdoses in Florida up 61 percent in 6 years

Fatal prescription drug overdoses jumped by 61 percent in Florida from 2003 to 2009 and claimed 16,650 lives, federal health officials said in a new analysis Thursday.

The report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention documents a trend that state officials have noted for years. It led to new laws over the past three years, most recently July 1, to control excessive prescriptions by pain doctors and clinics. Among the CDC's findings:
Prescription drug overdose deaths: Up 61 percent. There were 2,905 in 2009, compared with 1,804 in 2003. Each victim took a lethal dose of at least one prescription drug.

Prescription drug death rate: Up 84.2 percent. For every 100,000 Floridians, there were 13.4 deaths in 2009 vs. 7.3 in 2003.

Bering in Mind: 18 Attributes of Highly Effective

Niccolò Machiavelli might well have titled his 16th-century Dell'arte Della Guerra (" The Art of War ") as The Art of Lying, since verbal deception—mainly, how to get away with it—was so central to his political psychology. To say that the exquisitely light-of-tongue are "talented" is, of course, sure to be met with moral outrage. We place a social premium on the ability to ferret out other people’s lies, especially, as we’ve seen just this week in the news, when they may hide brutal and ugly crimes.
Still, there is something darkly fascinating about those skilled in verbal legerdemain. And at least one team of scientists, led by Dutch psychologist Aldert Vrij , believes that it has identified the precise ingredients of "good liars." These researchers outline the following 18 traits (pdf) that, if ever they were to coalesce in a perfect storm of a single perpetrator, would strain even seasoned interrogators’ lie-detection abilities:

Chase Gets Man Thrown In Jail For Fraudulent Check. Except The Check Is Legit. - The Consumerist

By Ben Popken on July 7, 2011 10:00 AM

Ikenna, a 28-year old construction worker, went to deposit a $8,463.21 Chase cashier's check at his local Chase branch, only for the teller to decide that neither he nor his check looked right and he got tossed in jail for forgery, KING5 reports. The next day, a Friday the bank realized its mistake and left a message with the detective. But it was her day off, so he spent the entire weekend in jail.

By the time he got out, he had been fired from his job for not showing up to work. His car had been towed as well. It ended up getting sold off at auction because he couldn't afford to get it out of the pound. He had been relying on that cashier's check for his money but it was taken as evidence and by the time he got it back it was auctioned off.

All this while the cashier's check had been issued by the very bank he was trying to cash it at.

Your Tax Dollars were Used to Purchase Guns and Run Them into Mexico - Gun Owners Of America

Well, the other shoe has dropped. We’ve known for several months that the Obama Administration was turning a blind eye to -- and even encouraged -- suspected gun smugglers who were purchasing firearms from gun stores in the southwest.

But now we know the rest of the story: Your tax money was used to buy many of those guns that were later sent to Mexico.

That’s what Fox News has been reporting this week, as it remains the one large news agency that has continued to cover the growing Fast and Furious scandal that was being run by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive (ATF).

Fast and Furious was a program that was born in 2009, allegedly to help track gun smugglers back to the Mexican drug cartels. But the reality is that few, if any, of these top-level leaders have been busted, while the smuggled guns have been funneled into the hands of drug gangs all along the border, resulting in hundreds of deaths (and the murders of two U.S. law-enforcement agents).

And, not only were your hard-earned dollars being used to purchase these guns, the main person being investigated for gun smuggling “was actually an FBI informant and former drug dealer who had been deported years ago,” Fox News reported.

The District of Columbia passed its first milestone in selecting who gets the much-coveted licenses for the city's medical marijuana program, even as the federal government is taking a second look at its hands-off approach to those who legally grow and sell cannabis under laws allowing its medicinal use.

More than 80 individuals or businesses applied to cultivate or sell medical marijuana through letters of intent submitted to the Department of Health, reports Tom Howell Jr. at The Washington Times. The applicants range from entrepreneurial lawyers and gardeners in D.C., to medical marijuana professionals based in states like Colorado and Montana.

The city is expected to soon kick off its long-awaited program -- put on hold by Congress 11 years ago -- in earnest, joining 16 states in legalizing the medicinal use of marijuana for qualified patients.

TSA and VIPR Motto: ‘Dominate, Intimidate and Control’

By John W. Whitehead

The transition to a police state will not come about with a dramatic coup d’etat, with battering rams and marauding militia. As we have experienced first-hand in recent years, it will creep in softly, one violation at a time, until suddenly you find yourself being subjected to random patdowns and security sweeps during your morning commute to work or quick trip to the shopping mall.

Perhaps you have yet to experience the particular thrill, and I use that word loosely, of being manhandled by government agents, having your personal possessions pawed through, and your activities and associations scrutinized. If so, not to worry. It’s only a matter of time before more and more Americans will experience such a military task force knocking at their door. Only, chances are that it won’t be a knock, and they might not even be at home when government agents decide to “investigate” them. Indeed, as increasing numbers of Americans are discovering, these so-called “soft target” security inspections are taking place whenever and wherever the government deems appropriate, at random times and places, and without needing the justification of a particular threat. Worse, not only is this happening with the blessing of the Obama administration but at its urging.

Swiss Parliament to discuss gold franc

Right-wing party seeks way back to gold standard

ZURICH (MarketWatch) — The Swiss Parliament is expected later this year to discuss the creation of a gold franc — a parallel currency to the official Swiss franc, with the fringe initiative likely triggering a broader debate about the role of the precious metal in the Alpine nation.
The initiative is part of “Healthy Currency,” a campaign sponsored by politicians from the right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP) — the country’s biggest — that is seeking to capitalize on popular fears about global financial turmoil and inflation to reverse the government’s current policy on gold.
“I can imagine that this will spark some sort of debate about gold and there may be some pressure to accept the parallel currency,” said Dr. Gebhard Kirchgaessner, an economics professor at St. Gallen University. “But it won’t have any real effect on the economy. It seems incredible to imagine that there are people out there willing to buy millions of these things.”

Bachmann pledges to ban ‘all forms of pornography’

07-08-2011 RawStory

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) became the first presidential candidate to sign a pledge created by The Family Leader, a conservative, Iowa-based Christian group that opposes same sex marriage, Sharia law and pornography.

By signing the pledge (PDF), Bachmann vowed to support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage, as well as agreeing that same sex marriage was akin to polygamy.

The document also implies that homosexuality is a choice.

"No peer-reviewed empirical science or rational demonstration has ever definitively proven, nor has even shown an overwhelming probability that homosexual preference or behavior is irresistible as a function of genetic determination or other forms of fatalism," according to the Christian group.

With her signature, Bachmann seemed to be implicitly agreeing that black children were better off during slavery.

"Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA’s first African-American President," the document said.

The South American nation of Bolivia is set to withdraw from the United Nations Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, adopted in 1961 to outlaw "illicit substances" across the planet. It plans the move in protest of the U.N.'s classification of coca leaves as an illegal drug.

President Evo Morales -- who, not coincidentally, is also leader of one of the country's biggest coca producers' unions -- has asked the Bolivian Congress to pass a law that would take the nation out of the Single Convention, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Morales, an Aymara Indian who came to power as the leader of coca growers in the Chapare region, has moved away from the forced eradication of coca plantations while at the same time stepping up efforts against cocaine traffickers, with record seizures.

Teenager says he was beaten by cops after family shot in post-Katrina chaos

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - A New Orleans teenager whose family members were wounded by police in the chaos after Hurricane Katrina testified on Tuesday that officers punched and kicked him before arresting him at the scene.

One officer who struck Leonard Bartholomew IV, then 14, as he lay on the ground blamed "the heat of the moment" for his actions as he testified in the second week of a federal trial that could send five police officers to prison for life.

The officers are charged in connection with the killing of two civilians, 17-year-old James Brissette and 40-year-old Ronald Madison, on September 4, 2005. Four others were wounded, including Bartholomew's mother, who lost an arm.

New Orleans police officers Kenneth Bowen, Robert Faulcon, Robert Gisevius, Anthony Villavaso and Arthur Kaufman face 25 counts of depriving citizens of civil rights, using a weapon in committing a crime, or obstruction of justice.

A sixth is scheduled for trial in the fall. Five other officers have pleaded guilty to a role in the incident on the Danziger bridge.
