When I was 14 years old I remember getting my first paycheck. I looked at it and saw that I was making $2.75 per hour. I had worked 30 hours, which gave me $82.50. Of course I also on that same day learned what deductions are. Abbreviations such as FED, State, FICA, Med, and Local all had numbers next to them. My actual check was $50.00. Was I happy to have money, you bet. I was happy to get this piece of paper that said it was worth $50.00. I would be able to buy something with it, maybe put gas into my moped, purchase myself lunch all week. However I also had to figure out how to get the money from the check into cash, dollars, what everyone else was using to buy all those things I wanted to buy. That meant opening a checking account, whom would then cash the check for a fee. At the age of 14 I was already being enslaved into the global banking system of paper currency. Where unless I followed their rules, let them take taxes, and fees, I would not be able to buy the things I wanted or needed. WELCOME TO AMERICA…….
