Gun, a translator for British intelligence, learned of a US plan to spy on UN delegations with the goal of winning support for an invasion of Iraq. The plans were outlined in a classified NSA memo. The US was seeking British help with the plan.

Gun was fired from her job and arrested for violating the Official Secrets Act under British law. In 2004 the British goverment decided not to prosecute.

It’s been a few hundred years since the Third Amendment was written to keep King George from quartering British troops in American homes, but a lawsuit just filed in Nevada suggests it’s as relevant as ever.
The framers of the Constitution ratified the Third Amendment to ensure citizens would never again have to accommodate soldiers, but a few centuries later it’s become more-or-less an antiquated law that’s rarely referenced in federal court. That changed recently when a family from Henderson, Nevada accused the local police department of constitutional violations after officers of the law allegedly took residence in two neighborhood homes.
According to a legal filing first obtained by Courthouse News Service, a handful of Henderson Police Department officers and the city itself are being sued for an array of charges — including Third Amendment violations — over an incident that mirrors the making of the American Revolution.
Attorneys for the plaintiffs say police officers demanded they be allowed to occupy two homes owned by their clients on the city’s Eveningside Avenue in 2011 in order to conduct an investigation involving a neighbor’s residence. When the owners refused to comply with the request, they were reportedly arrested for obstruction and brought to jail.
Police were investigating an incident at 363 Eveningside Avenue that July when Officer Christopher Worley called up the occupant of a neighboring property, Anthony Mitchell, and said he’d need to use his house in order to gain a 'tactical advantage' over the neighbor’s residence. Mitchell reportedly made it clear that he did not want to get involved in the probe and told Worley he would not be able to offer assistance. According to the lawsuit, Officer David Cawthorn, Sgt. Michael Waller and Worley all then "conspired among themselves to force Anthony Mitchell out of his residence and to occupy his home for their own use."

U.S. Postal Service Logging All Mail for Law Enforcement - NYTimes.com

U.S. Postal Service Logging All Mail for Law Enforcement - NYTimes.com

WASHINGTON — Leslie James Pickering noticed something odd in his mail last September: a handwritten card, apparently delivered by mistake, with instructions for postal workers to pay special attention to the letters and packages sent to his home.
“Show all mail to supv” — supervisor — “for copying prior to going out on the street,” read the card. It included Mr. Pickering’s name, address and the type of mail that needed to be monitored. The word “confidential” was highlighted in green.
“It was a bit of a shock to see it,” said Mr. Pickering, who with his wife owns a small bookstore in Buffalo. More than a decade ago, he was a spokesman for the Earth Liberation Front, a radical environmental group labeled eco-terrorists by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Postal officials subsequently confirmed they were indeed tracking Mr. Pickering’s mail but told him nothing else.
As the world focuses on the high-tech spying of the National Security Agency, the misplaced card offers a rare glimpse inside the seemingly low-tech but prevalent snooping of the United States Postal Service.
Mr. Pickering was targeted by a longtime surveillance system called mail covers, a forerunner of a vastly more expansive effort, the Mail Isolation Control and Tracking program, in which Postal Service computers photograph the exterior of every piece of paper mail that is processed in the United States — about 160 billion pieces last year. It is not known how long the government saves the images.

Begley told The Huffington Post he can't point to a specific thing that pushed him toward Twitter. He was still searching for an alternative medium for the message of Drones+, so the tweet seems to him now like an impulse or reflex instead of a decision -- a snap commitment made from his computer in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y., to document attacks from unmanned drones.
Begley told the Daily Beast that Jane Mayer’s 2009 New Yorker piece, “The Predator War,” served as his inspiration.
The concept got others thinking, too, and hit the front page of Reddit on Wednesday afternoon.
Begley told Reddit's community “the purpose of it is just to surface this information in new and different ways. The app was simply a package for that. glad to hear that some (or at least a few) of you are interested in following along as well.”

It Just Doesn’t Feel Like the 4th of July When… | Dave Hodges – The Common Sense Show
Are you like me in that you are having a difficult time trying to decide what to for the 4th of July holiday? Do you feel like me and feel that we don’t have a lot to celebrate given the present state of affairs?
Because I have a family I will watch the fireworks for their sake and then I will silently say a prayer in which I ask God to bring us a generation of brave Americans who can emulate the deeds of our Founding Fathers instead of the criminals we now have who are destroying the country. However, I must confess that it just does not feel like the 4th of July.
Stacy Lynne
Stacy Lynne
It doesn’t feel like the 4th of July when a quality person and parent like Stacy Lynne, of Fort Collins Colorado, had her son stolen from her over a 19 months ago by the Agenda 21 forces of her community for daring to speak out on behalf the small business owners. Lynne has not been allowed to see her son for over six months and there hasn’t been one allegation made against her parenting skills, nor has she committed a criminal act. Oh, and by the way, the judge who stole Stacy’s son Jaden, Julie Kunce Field, was an Agenda 21 consultant to the World Bank and the IMF and she also shared an office suite with the Colorado Queen of Agenda 21, Pat Stryker.
It doesn’t feel like the 4th of July as America discovers that 200 million of our citizens have been placed in a facial recognition database without our consent and even if we have never committed a crime. Anyone who has a driver’s license, is in the data base.

Planned Parenthood Opposes Bill Protecting Babies Born After Botched Abortions | LifeNews.com

The Planned Parenthood abortion business in Florida is opposing a bill in the state legislature that would provide medical care and legal protection for babies who are born alive after failed abortions.
This is the same legislation President Barack Obama refused to support during his time in the Illinois legislature and it mirrors a national law President George W. Bush signed after nurse Jill Stanek exposed how her Chicago-area hospital left babies to die in utility closets after botched abortions.

UVA student jailed for possession of bottled water, ice cream - Yahoo! News
A University of Virginia student spent a night and good part of the next day in jail after seven plain-clothes agents from the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control division ambushed her.
The student, 20-year-old Elizabeth Daly, made the mistake of walking to her car with bottled water, cookie dough and ice cream in a dark supermarket parking lot near the UVA campus, reports The Daily Progress.
The seven agents sprung aggressively into action, suspecting that the student was carrying was a 12-pack of beer. She was actually carrying a sky-blue carton of LaCroix sparkling water.
Police admit that one of the high-strung agents vaulted onto the hood of Daly’s car. She contends that one of them also drew a gun.
It’s not clear what about Daly’s appearance gave the six police officers the belief that they had probable cause to confront her en masse.
Daly, along with two roommates who were in the car, did what reasonable, unarmed people usually do when violently pounced upon by seven people. They tried to get away.
